Dr. Harvey L. Handler is a Board Certified Dermatologist who has treated and helped thousands of patients during his career in Dermatology. He is a graduate of Indiana University Medical School and completed his Dermatology residency training at Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital and the University of Pennsylvania Medical School. He served as Chief of Dermatology at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base during his active duty in the United States Air Force before entering private practice in Toledo, Ohio in 1975. He has privileges at many area hospitals and was Director of Dermatology at Medical College of Ohio in Toledo for several years where he lectured and taught regularly while in private practice. He has also served as Director of Dermatology at the Flower Hospital Campus where he maintains his practice.
While he is trained in general Dermatology for treatment of acne, eczema, psoriasis, various skin eruptions (rashes), and detection and elimination of skin cancer, he is an expert in Pediatric and Geriatric Dermatology as well as treatment of diseases of skin of color. Dr. Handler lectures regularly to other physicians and mentors family practice residents concerning the latest treatments available for skin diseases.
Dr. Handler is Board Certified in Dermatology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, as well as an active member of the Society of Pediatric Dermatology, Society of Cosmetic and Laser Surgery, National Psoriasis Foundation, National Vitiligo Foundation, National Rosacea Foundation, Ohio State Medical Association, Ohio Dermatology Association, Michigan Dermatological Society, and the Academy of Medicine of Toledo, Ohio and Lucas County.
Outside of the office Dr. Handler's hobbies include sailboat racing, fishing, martial arts, and playing with his grandchildren.
